| A Few Words About HTML | |
|
What does HTML stand for? HTML, or Hypertext Markup Language, is a language that uses text and a defined set of commands (known as tags) to create most of what you see on a World Wide Web page. The tags can serve two distinct functions: They either "tell" the text how to behave (bold, italic, etc.), or make the text act as a command to insert a link, picture, or sound onto your page. Here is a simple way to look at what HTML is. It's computer language. If you want to talk to someone in Germany, you would have to learn to speak German. Ok, so now you want to talk to your computer to tell it how you want things to look. So you have to learn HTML (computer language). What can you do with HTML? HTML coding is used to make a web site to be displayed on the WWW (World Wide Web.) You can use HTML to format you text, display images, and add sound to your web site for the rest of the world to see and hear. How do you use HTML? I have put a lot of thought into writing a tutorial on using HTML. Because there are so many good tutorials already on the web we have decided to offer a basic "How To Make A Website" and provide links to several of the better HTML tutorials we have found. I'm sure there are one or two among the list that you will find useful. Also, be sure to check out the tools section where you will find a variety of color charts...as well as our own HTML Editor/Viewer and a few web based practice boards to practice your newly learned skills. | |

| Zoicks.com |
A website billed as an eBay tutorial, but it's much more than that. I have seen some really good websites designed to help people out with their cyber lives (like Boomershelp.com), but this one is, in my opinion, one of the best on the net. It's free to use, ad-free (no pop-ups), user friendly and very informative.
Many thanks to Lesley for all of the time and skills she put into this site. |
